Alicia Margarita Olivo is a Houston-based Mexican American playwright, performer, and weather enjoyer, whose work focuses on the fiery interactions between identity, gender, rage, and memory. Alicia’s protagonists are unapologetically outspoken and hurting, in the search for healing and catharsis.
Alicia’s works are heavily influenced by a variety of media, ranging from Univision late-night comedies to anime to comics, with a specific emphasis on invoking the visual and audial rapid-fire edits of classic horror movies and 80’s punk music. Along with the stylization of the work, the stories and characters Alicia writes are always grounded in reality. Oftentime, these characters deal with dual problems, both grounded and fantastic.
